Travelling can seem daunting and overwhelming but the experiences and the memories you’ll have, far outweigh the fear of actually getting out there.
Released in August 2020, Netflix’s Rising Phoenix, is an incredibly powerful documentary about the development and challenges of the Paralympic Games. I honestly couldn’t recommend this documentary more. Whether your disabled or able-bodied, this documentary is for everyone. I personally, learnt so much about the creation of the Paralympic Games, the struggles to keep it funded and the fight it took, to be recognised as vital and important as the Olympic Games.

The podcast is hosted by Dylan and his able-bodied buddy Angus O’Loughlin, who both speak with amazing Aussies who have different disabilities and their experiences living with it.
I recently watched Crip-Camp a documentary on Netflix, and it became so much more inspirational to me than I ever thought possible. If you have access to Netflix, I highly recommend watching it, if you haven’t already.
The documentary explores the world of a disability camp in the United States in 1971. People with all types of disabilities would attend this camp every summer, as they weren’t able to attend the able-bodied camps around the country at that time.
If you’re thinking of going to London and you or your travel companion is in a wheelchair then I highly recommend visiting London. I found London to be very wheelchair friendly, with all the places I visited, accommodating to wheelchairs and the disabled amazingly.
